CorporateQueer at The Houses of Parliament for LGBTQ+ History Month

Pips Bunce inspirational lgbtqai+ campaigner, shares their thoughts on this groundbreaking event:

“The Houses of Parliament were a great venue for the #CorporateQueer photography exhibition and now showing as part of their LGBTQ+ history month.

We had an incredible array of guests who were such an awesome bunch – we showcased 60+ Photographs about Queer lived experiences, representation and recognition of LGBTQI+ people and their right to be their true authentic selves both in the workplace and across society.

This was a great opportunity to try and change the hearts and minds of some of our nation’s law makers. The people who can make a difference to the lives of so many Queer people…….

It felt odd and incredibly humbling seeing an image of yourself as part of such an exhibition and I am eternally grateful to the amazing Fiona Freund and the entire CorporateQueer team for making this exhibition happen and providing our Queer community with this opportunity – thank you from the whole community for all that you do.

This was such a great venue and I loved seeing so many get together over the shared theme of wanting to make this world one where people can live their life free from the fear of abuse, prejudice and discrimination and effectively to just ‘be’ – such a basic human right should not be a challenge yet sadly often is

Such an array of lovely folks in attendance, including the likes of the awesome Peter Tatchell, a super impressive and prolific human rights campaigner – as rightly said by Peter, ‘No one has had their rights given to them. They’ve always had to be fought for’. Activism is the lifeblood of democracy and social reform. LGBTQI+ has made huge progress in the last two decades, but we are still waiting on so much.

Massive thanks to Helen Hayes MP for sponsoring this event and for all that you do in helping support the LGBTQI+ community, thank you!!!

Whilst this exhibition in the Houses of Parliament is not on show to the public, fear not, it will again soon when it goes on show outside Guildhall for Pride in June and so I hope to see you there!!!!!”
