#CorporateQueer - Fiona spends the summer shooting
This summer has been extraordinary. From the minute we were officially ‘allowed out’ Fiona has been finding, planning with and shooting 61 amazing people for #CorporateQueer, a new exhibition celebrating LGBT+ professionals and their allies and encouraging employers to invite everyone to bring their whole self to work.
Starting in June on the South Bank and Blyth Hill Park with the Canary Wharf towers in the background then off to Cambridge to shoot the wonderful Lord Chris Smith, the UK’s first openly gay MP. Then to Manchester’s legendary Canal Street. And the wonderful St James and Emmanuel Church Didsbury - ‘Church for Everyone.'
Then in July Fiona found herself shooting the creative tour da force that is Daniel Lismore and inspiringly beautiful LGBTQ+ historian Tyne O’Connell outside the Ritz and in Green Park with the wonderful giant elephant sculptures.
It felt important to include people from all over the UK although we then focussed more on London and the City. Being hosted by Broadgate in their wonderful 3FA space also meant shooting 15 amazing queer people who work at Broadgate and beyond for British Land. All done in three sunny busy days in August.
In a final flurry of photography Fiona shot the giants of LGBTQ+ campaigning and awareness Linda Riley - editor of Diva Magazine, Riyadh Khalaf - TV presenter and Author and Peter Tatchell campaigner and star of the extraordinary new film Hating Peter Tatchell.
Then it was preparing all 61 images and sending them to the printers.
