#MotherWorks at The St Botolph Building hosted by Marsh, Lockton and Clyde & Co.
“I loved the whole exhibition. I thought it really clearly showed the relationship between mums and children and mums and work. I loved the description that the exhibition celebrated the bizarre and brilliant duality of the life of working mums. It was amazing how similar the experiences of the working mums were when you read them, even though they represented many different careers.”

We were thrilled when Marsh, Lockton and Clyde & Co asked us to create a Motherworks exhibition for the foyer of their stunning St Botolph Building in the City of London. Fiona spent 2 fun filled days shooting mums and their children from each of the organisations. It can take some persuading and lots of love to get little ones to pose for pictures, here are some of the out takes.
The images, all shot in and around St Botolph Building speak of the many layers of these mothers lives, the professional and responsible employee who is also a carer, cleaner, teacher and best friend. The stories added much more depth to their narratives and some were shocking in how they described the everyday sexism still faced by many working women.
“During a take your children to work day, I’ll never forget a man in the lift turning directly to my children asking ‘Are you having a nice half term holiday? Has Mummy brought you into work to see Daddy?’ It was great to hear my children promptly, and proudly, tell him, that this was actually their Mummy’s office!”
Rachel Hoyel - Senior Vice President at Marsh
We created free standing boards to present the photographs and stories. They looked great against the striking style of the building’s interior. Sadly Covid put paid to any group celebrations but the feed back has been amazing and we absolutely loved working with the these magic mums and celebrating everything they do.
